This one was overcooked on the outside with some uncooked batter on the inside - perhaps the batter was too thick to cook evenly, or the heat was too high. The LCC is unfortunately closed until further notice. My dear relative Priscilla Lapp got the stuffed haddock, and said it was “out of this world.” Their fish fry and broiled fish is also included in their Friday dinner buffet, though the portions are smaller and the entree version looked a little better quality. The country club has a bunch of other fish options on their menu available throughout the week, like haddock bruschetta and haddock stuffed with crab. The green beans were tasty, though, as was the spinach salad that was included in the $10.99 price. I love tartar sauce, but relied on it a little too heavily to dress this one up. The batter formed lots of delicate peaks, and I love some good texture. They throw in their homemade rolls and muffins, too. I got the sour cream and chive smashed potatoes, which were divine. I’ve found that cardboard boxes prevent sogginess and keep the batter crisper. Some crispiness still held on by the time I got home, but I think the condensation in the styrofoam container and plastic bag did some damage. I think their fish fry would be a serious contender for the best in town if you could eat it in the restaurant. They’re still offering their full menu for delivery or pickup, but call early. Rarely does a restaurant have a lengthy menu while executing each dish with high quality, but D&R does both. I’m sorry to say I never got the chance to try Our Lady of Mercy’s fish. The fish fry scene in Le Roy has suffered from COVID-19: Mooney’s is officially closed, the Eagle and Country Club are closed for the near future, the Mason’s and Our Lady of Mercy ended their seasons early, and the Ridge closed. The breaded fish fry is a meal that features a fresh and flaky haddock nicely complimented by a thin layer of bread crumbs. This is a calm and welcoming place that serves a fish fry that is huge and very tasty. It is quite obvious the owners take great pride in not only their food but the aesthetics of their restaurant since they have made various improvements over the past few years, including the creation of a very beautiful indoor patio.
